7th African Conference of Agricultural Economists & 60th Annual AEASA Conference 18-21 September 2023

Africa’s agri-food system is facing rising incidents of extraneous shocks and stressors due to climatic/natural disasters, man-made conflicts, health-related and/or macroeconomic factors.  These events disrupt the lives and livelihoods of populations and, unless adequately addressed, will slow Africa’s structural transformation through adverse effects on agriculture and the wider food system. As we enter the third year of the UNFSS Decade of Action, it is imperative that the sector outlines strategies that build resilience to mitigate the impact of these shocks and stressors.

Towards that end, Through Crisis: Building Resilient and Sustainable Agri-food Systems in Africa is the theme for the 7th African Conference of Agricultural Economists, co-organised with the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA).
